Wales have no plans to bring in replacements for either Justin Tipuric or Alun Wyn Jones after their shock international retirements last Friday.
The pair had been named in Warren Gatland's 54-man World Cup training squad, only for the Ospreys duo to both call time on their distinguished Test careers at the end of last week.
The double retirements - within 80 minutes of one another - came as a surprise to many. However, when it became apparent that neither Tipuric or Jones would be at this year's World Cup in France, it did appear as if a door could be opening for some of the players unfortunate to miss out on the extended training squad.
Someone like Thomas Young, who had led the United Rugby Championship in turnovers and was arguably the form openside in Welsh rugby over the last 12 months, might have been hoping for a reprieve after Gatland overlooked him the first time around.
However, with the squad set to be reduced down from the original 54 to around 45 before Wales head out to their training camps in Switzerland and Turkey in July, Gatland won't be looking to bring in any extra reinforcements as the feeling is there's enough cover in the squad.
Part of the thinking behind the larger squad was due to Wales carrying some injuries in to camp and needing enough numbers for when they meet up next week.
One of those injured players was Tipuric, with the mercurial back-row having missed the last month of the regular domestic season with a foot injury sustained during Ospreys' Champions Cup defeat at Saracens in April.
Taine Basham, Taulupe Faletau, Dan Lydiate, Josh Macleod, Jac Morgan, Tommy Reffell and Aaron Wainwright are the remaining back-row options in the squad, while Adam Beard, Ben Carter, Rhys Davies, Cory Hill, Dafydd Jenkins, Will Rowlands, Christ Tshiunza and Teddy Williams are the second-rows vying for a place in the final 33-man squad.
