Tyneside tech firm Smart IT is set to create scores of new jobs after launching plans to move into a new base.
The solutions supplier has announced the £1m investment into a new head office based in the Team Valley which is three times larger than its existing space, giving the company ample room for growth. Directors at the Gateshead business said the firm has seen rapid financial and staff growth over the last few years, triggering the need for extra space.
Managing director Tony Wilson said the company has grown by 30% over the last 12 months despite the challenging economic climate and that it is now ready to take the brand to the next level. The firm currently has 56 staff, but new jobs are being created to take the headcount to 80 before the year end. The office – the former base for the Changing Lives charity – has 10,000 sqft, giving the firm space to treble in size to more than 150 staff.
