Gary Neville’s disappointment in Manchester United’s derby crushing at the hands of Liverpool was evident as he reacted furiously to Jamie Carragher’s teasing in commentary.
The former derby rivals were both in the Sky Sports gantry at Anfield as the hosts smashed seven goals past a beleaguered United side.
As Liverpool racked up the goals, scoring three in the final 15 minutes in a game that was goalless until the 43rd minute, Neville delivered a stark assessment of the Red Devils’ performance.
“You might lose 2-0, you might lose 2-1, you might lose 3-0... you just don’t get beaten 7-0 if you’re a Manchester United player,” he stated.
However, Carragher fired back “you do today!” to which Neville abruptly replied: “Do one.”

Despite the defeat, Neville backed Erik ten Hag to turn United around quickly for a Europa League clash with Real Betis on Thursday.
He continued: “The second half has been an absolute disgrace, a shambles.
“They have not been epitomised more than [Bruno] Fernandes, who has been embarrassing – a shambles – in this game. But I have to say it’s not their usual performance. It’s not their usual spirit and form.
“Ten Hag will deal with it I’m sure, like he’s dealt with other difficult issues.”
