Confidence at Tottenham has been a difficult thing to come by in the past few months as results continued to go against the side under the stewardship of Antonio Conte. The Italian was dismissed and replaced by his assistant Cristian Stellini, but after a 25 minute capitulation against Newcastle, where the Magpies scored five goals in quick succession, Spurs fell to a 6-1 defeat and the interim was also dismissed.
Ryan Mason has been given the reigns for the rest of the season, but was tasked with a difficult clash early on against Manchester United. After going 2-0 down in the first half, a second half fight back saw goals from Pedro Porro and Son Heung-Min earn a point and showed some spirit for those fans once again.
There was some hope for a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool, but that was shot down in yet another early breakdown in the game. Curtis Jones and Luis Diaz scored in the first five minutes to give the home side the lead before Mohamed Salah slotted home a penalty after a foul from Cristian Romero on Cody Gakpo.

It could see the game end in similar ugly scenes for Spurs as they saw against Newcastle, with fans reimbursed for their ticket to that game. After the opening stages, former Manchester United defender Gary Neville named two players he believed to be at fault for the start and the recent form.
He said on Sky Sports: "You’d have to go a long way to see two defenders have as bad a week as Eric Dier and Romero - they are all over the place. Absolute shambles they are at the back. The lack of composure from Romero is staggering and the choice of charging out by Dier, with his experience, he’s done it two or three times in this game already and he shakes his head.
"Dier and Romero, they need the season to end. They’re a lot better than they’re showing. That’s being kind to them."
