Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Graeme Souness all joined in to mock Roy Keane after a comparison was made between him and popular Ted Lasso character Roy Kent. A trailer centred around Kent, played by Brett Goldstein, was aired on Sky Sports before Liverpool played Manchester United.
With the American show coining some of Keane's own well-known catchphrases, show host Kelly Cates was quick to draw upon the likeness with the former United midfielder, saying, "wondering if anyone else sees it. The resemblance."
Keane, meanwhile, is stood still in silence looking thoroughly unimpressed. He then gives his take. "To me?" he asked. "You're joking! I'm a lot nicer than him. You know that, tell the truth."

Cates replied: "He [Goldstein] got a an Emmy for that performance which is ridiculous because he was only doing his job," with a quip on Keane's famous "do your job" speech.
Souness then admitted he was won over by the prospect, adding, "I've never seen it but I will now."
Co-creator Brendan Hunt has also previously explained that the similarities with Keane are deliberate, saying, "When we were getting into football, [it] was the peak era of Manchester United…that butted up against the Roy Keane soap opera of the 2002 World Cup. And though I was not a Man United fan, and I'm still not, I just was fascinated by Roy Keane," he told Spin 103.8.
"When we're putting this together as a show we said, ‘We know that Ted's nice, what is an existing football archetype that he would have to deal with?’ And we could think of no greater obstacle than Roy Keane in his midst."
The third series of Ted Lasso is being streamed on Apple TV and starts later this month having been immensely popular in the first two seasons. The story follows Lasso, an American coach, on his journey through English football with AFC Richmond. Stamford Bridge and the London Stadium are amongst the grounds featured in the trailer.
Neither Keane or Neville were laughing after an hour though with Liverpool 3-0 up on the Red Devils and doing Arsenal a great deal of help in attempting to eliminate one of their further acast title challengers.
