Gary Neville is 'going easy on Liverpool' after Manchester United defeat

Gary Neville has told Liverpool not to worry after their defeat to Manchester United.

The Reds were beaten 2-1 by their bitter rivals at Old Trafford in the Premier League clash on Monday night. Mohamed Salah’s second half header was not enough to cancel out goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford.

Defeat means Jurgen Klopp’s side remain winless after their first three matches. Liverpool have picked up just two points and will now prepare to face Bournemouth at Anfield this weekend.

Neville was talking about Liverpool’s situation while working as a pundit for Sky Sports. The former Man United captain went on to explain why he thinks those associated with the Reds should not be too concerned.

“I think they’ve got enough credit in the bank, this group of players and manager, plus the fact they’ve got six players missing for us to go easy on them,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“That game can happen and I’m surprised Man United did what they did tonight. They should’ve beaten Crystal Palace, they were unlucky and Fulham caught them out.

“The problem is the standards Man City and Liverpool have set over the last few years you end up thinking it’s a real worry but ordinarily in any normal decade, picking up points in your first three you recover from it but City where they are is a problem for Liverpool winning the title.

“I think it’ll be harsh, I wouldn’t be worried if I was Liverpool because they’ve got players coming back.”
