Gary Neville has already told Man United their priority signing after Frenkie de Jong move

Gary Neville has already told Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag what his next priority should be after securing a deal for Frenkie de Jong.

A move which has been weeks in the making, United have finally settled on a €65million fee for the Netherlands international. News of an agreement being reached over De Jong came on a day when United also settled on a similar agreement with Feyenoord for left-back Tyrell Malacia.

Further targets include Christian Eriksen and highly-rated Ajax forward Antony, while Ten Hag also wants to sign a central defender and back-up goalkeeper to replace Nottingham Forest-bound Dean Henderson. Any further additions might depend on who else departs before the window closes.

Lee Grant, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani have all left Old Trafford this summer. Speculation continues to mount over which other players United could target and Neville has shared his take on where they most need to strengthen as part of their rebuild.

Earlier this month, Neville said: "We know the areas they absolutely need to strengthen. Central midfield is an absolute necessity, an absolute necessity."

He added: "Manchester United need midfield players. They also need a centre-forward.

"I know Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to stay and he's an absolutely brilliant performer, but they need a centre-forward. Centre-forward is a must and I think there will need to be a wide player, just to beef up the squad."
