Gary Neville agrees with Piers Morgan on Leeds United vs Nottingham Forest decision

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has joined Piers Morgan in questioning the decision to postpone Premier League fixtures this weekend.

Nottingham Forest were due to face Leeds United on Monday evening at Elland Road (8pm kick-off), but the match was postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. All other top flight games and those in the EFL were also called off.

The decision was made on Friday afternoon to reschedule this weekend's fixtures, but other sports such as rugby and cricket went ahead as usual. There also remains doubt over next weekend's home game against Fulham as the country enters a period of national mourning.

Following the postponements, outspoken TV presenter Morgan urged the league to reverse their decision in a tweet. He said: "Sporting events should go ahead. a) The Queen loved sport, and b) It would be great to see/hear huge crowds singing the National Anthem to Her Majesty, as West Ham fans did so magnificently (on Thursday) night."

Sky Sports pundit Neville was quick to back Morgan's comments. He tweeted: "I agree Piers. Sport can demonstrate better than most the respect the Queen deserves."

Should Forest have their game against Fulham on Friday, September 16, postponed, Steve Cooper's side will not be in action until they visit Leicester City on Monday, October 3 - a whole month since the defeat to AFC Bournemouth.
