Gary Lineker's verdict on an 'incredible' evening for Leeds United at Molineux

Former England striker Gary Lineker has described Leeds United's comeback win over Wolverhampton Wanderers as 'sensational'. In a topsy-turvy encounter at Molineux, the Whites had to fight back from multiple injury setbacks to claim three invaluable points.

Jesse Marsch's side were forced to make an early change when Patrick Bamford limped off holding his ankle. And their worries worsened as Diego Llorente was taken off with what looked like a back issue.

Wolves took advantage of Leeds' struggles and scored two quick-fire goals as Jonny and Francisco Trincao both struck within five minutes. However, there would be more problems for the Whites before half-time when Mateusz Klich had to go off with a concussion.

After the break, the drama continued as Raul Jimenez was shown a second yellow card for a late challenge on Illan Meslier. But the latter came out worse off and had to replaced by Kristoffer Klaesson, leaving Marsch with no more substitutes available.

Jimenez's red card gave Leeds the momentum, though, and they pulled one back through Jack Harrison, before Rodrigo levelled the scoreline moments later for his second goal in as many matches. And there was still time for the Whites to grab the winner.

Luke Ayling brought the ball down inside the area and smashed an effort into the back of the net to send the travelling fans wild. It is a result that has moved Leeds seven points clear of the Premier League relegation zone with eight matches to play.

After Everton's win over Newcastle United on Thursday, Leeds needed to pick up something against Wolves and they given themselves some breathing space between them and the bottom three. Lineker has delivered his verdict on an 'incredible' evening in the West Midlands.

He said on his Twitter account: "What a sensational comeback by @LUFC. Incredible."

The Whites will now have a two-week break before they host Southampton in their next encounter on Saturday, April 2. This time period will give Marsch a chance to give his players a rest as they try to recover for the final stretch of the campaign.
