Gary Lineker picks out "scary" Man Utd addition after dramatic Chelsea draw

Gary Lineker described Casemiro as "scary" after the Brazilian scored his first goal in the Premier League.

The Champions League winner joined Manchester United from Real Madrid in August, and perhaps wasn't signed for his ability in the opposition box. That didn't matter to United, though, as he climbed highest to head in a last-gasp goal to rescue a point at Chelsea.

Jorginho had earlier put the Blues in front, making no mistake from the penalty spot after Scott McTominay was penalised for a tussle with Armando Broja. It had looked as though one goal would be enough for Chelsea, only for Casemiro to have the last word.

"Late drama at Stamford Bridge. Casemiro is quite scary," Lineker tweeted while reminding fans of Saturday's Match of the Day broadcast.

Casemiro scored just 24 times in La Liga across more than 200 games in the competition for Real Madrid. However, United's decision to part with an initial £50m for the Brazilian was based on his solidity in a defensive midfield role - something he showed time and time again at the Bernabeu.

“That’s why we brought him in,” Man Utd boss Ten Hag told reporters after the game. “We know he’s capable of doing that. He proved it in Spain, he proved it in the Champions League, at the highest level, so he could also do it in the Premier League.

“It’s clear, the Premier League is a different league – especially with the intensity – so he needed a short period to adapt to that. Now from game to game you see him growing and you see how important he is for our game. He brings the composure, he brings the organisation and also even scores a goal. He brings a lot to the team.”

The point at Stamford Bridge ensured United remained within a point of their opponents in fifth spot. Chelsea are still yet to lose in any competition under new manager Graham Potter, with seven wins and three draws under the former Brighton boss.

“We did [bounced back] it today after we were down," Ten Hag added. "We showed resilience and it is a really big thing for big teams to have that in your capabilities. And also therefore that is what Casemiro, among others, is bringing into the squad and the team.”

United have just three more Premier League games to play before the World Cup. They will host West Ham next weekend before facing away trips to Aston Villa and Fulha,
