Gary Lineker has heaped praise on Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk following his efforts in the Reds' Carabao Cup final win over Chelsea yesterday afternoon.
Van Dijk helped Jurgen Klopp's side keep a clean sheet against the Londoners and was voted Man of the Match as a result of another imperious display in the heart of defence.
But the Dutchman's most notable contribution arrived in unlikely circumstances.

With no winning goal scored in extra time, Liverpool prevailed on penalties after a nerve-wracking shootout at Wembley.
All 11 players of the Reds' first-team left on the pitch managed to convert from 12 yards, which featured a special strike from Van Dijk.
Despite Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga doing his best to put off the 30-year-old by blocking the left side of the goal to aim at, the Liverpool centre-half ignored the Spaniard's attempt at mind games by firing the ball in his direction at full power.
Unable to keep out his fierce shot, Van Dijk found the top left corner of the goal in style as he made no mistake from the spot.
This emphatic finish did not go unnoticed on social media, with Lineker among those to praise the braveness of the former Southampton star as he decided against aiming his effort to Kepa's left.
"This is definitely in my top 10 favourite penalties," tweeted the former Barcelona and Everton forward.
Van Dijk was the third penalty taker for the Reds on the night and watched on as the other eight members of the squad also followed suit by finding the back of the net.
