Match of the Day host Gary Lineker has compared Richard Madeley to Alan Partridge after being grilled on Good Morning Britain today. Gary was appearing on GMB to promote the new series of his ITV game show Sitting On A Fortune.
But Richard Madeley instead decided to grill the sports presenter of his tweet which earlier this year resulted in the former Leicester City and England player being taken off air.
Gary had tweeted that the language being used by the Conservatives to discuss immigration was not dissimilar to language used in Germany in the 1930s.
The BBC criticised Gary for his 'lack of impartiality' at the time and he was taken off air during an investigation. He returned when doznes of fellow pundits and journalists walked out in sympathy.
When he appeared on GMB today, Richard Madeley accused him of comparing the Government to the Nazis and asked if he would do it again, given the fallout.
Gary said that his tweet had been taken out of context or misquoted at the time, and that Richard was doing it again.
Richard and Gary then clashed as the GMB host kept questioning Lineker on his stance and his views.
After his GMB grilling, which was slammed by some viewers, Gary went on to appear on Radio X with Chris Moyles. When Chris asked how his day had been so far Gary replied: "Well, it’s been, interesting…little interview with Mr Madeley, remember him?"
He added: "...you know… Richard Partridge Madeley, we know what you’re like… it was fine."
