Gary Lineker has compared Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk to an England footballing legend.
Van Dijk is currently gearing up to play for the Netherlands at the World Cup in Qatar, which starts this weekend. The Reds centre-back is captain for his country, and is likely to play a key role in their success in the tournament.
The Dutchman is one of seven Liverpool players to travel to Qatar for the World Cup. Darwin Nunez, Jordan Henderson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Fabinho and Ibrahima Konate will all be present for the competition.

Lineker, the 1986 World Cup Golden Boot winner, has compared Van Dijk to England great Bobby Moore, who famously captained the Three Lions to their historic triumph in 1966.
The renowned pundit has listed Moore as one of the top 10 players in World Cup history, but has compared the legendary defender to Van Dijk.
“What a gorgeous footballer, super-intelligent player,” said Lineker about Moore, on BBC MOTD’s Top 10 Greatest World Cup players. “Wasn’t particularly quick, but his positional play...

“You never see him going to ground, very calm, great passer.”
