Former Barcelona star Gary Lineker has brutally mocked Casemiro after the Brazilian stated his desire to win the Premier League with Manchester United.
The midfielder bid farewell to Real Madrid on Monday ahead of his £60million transfer to the Red Devils. During his press conference at the Santiago Bernabeu, Casemiro answered questions over his reasoning for departing Los Blancos.
One of those reasons is his desire for a new challenge and to win trophies with United. He frequently labelled the Red Devils England's biggest club and made the bold claim that he wanted to win the Premier League during his time in Manchester.
"I am excited to develop at a big club like Manchester United. Signing for Manchester United is a very important challenge for me - I feel like I am 18 years old, if it were up to me I would already play today against Liverpool," he said.
"I want to show Manchester United fans that I’m serious about them, I will work extremely hard. What am I looking for? New challenges, a new club, another country, another culture. I want to help Manchester United, I want to win new things.
"I felt my journey here was over. Now, I join the biggest club in England. Leaving the Champions League for the Europa League? I'm going to one of the biggest teams in the world, competing with the greatness of Real Madrid. I want to win the Premier League with Manchester United."

That last sentence prompted a mocking response from Lineker, who spent three years at Madrid's fierce rivals Barcelona. The Match of the Day host joked that Casemiro was unaware he was joining Manchester United, not their rivals Manchester City.
Quote-tweeting an account that posted Casemiro's wish, Lineker wrote: "He knows he’s joining United rather than City, right?"
It has been some time since United launched a strong challenge for the title. While they finished second in the 2020/2021 season, City still strolled to top spot that season. In fact, the Red Devils' last Premier League title win came nearly a decade ago, in Sir Alex Ferguson's final season as manager.
They look to be some way from getting back to those heights, if the first two games of Erik ten Hag's reign are anything to go by. United lost to Brighton on the opening day before they were smashed in humiliating fashion at Brentford.
The arrival of Casemiro is a boost for Ten Hag, though, given the poor state of his options in midfield. Even so, the Brazilian may be waiting a while before he can get his hands on the Premier League trophy.
Casemiro has bid farewell to Real Madrid ahead of his move and is expected to arrive in Manchester shortly. But the deal will not go through in time for the midfielder to feature in the crunch clash with Liverpool on Monday night.
