Gary Bowyer is in the frame to make a shock return to Blackpool - just days after guiding Dundee back to the Premiership.
The experienced Englishman is the bookmakers’ favourite to land the vacant job with the Seasiders, who have just been relegated to League One. Bowyer was appointed Dundee manager last summer and led them to the Championship title after he led them to a thrilling last-day win over Queen’s Park. Dundee’s players fear they could lose their boss with many of them facing an uncertain future of their own with a large number of them being out of contract.
Bowyer was part of the Dundee squad who had a civic reception in the city yesterday to mark their title win. The 51-year-old previously had a successful spell at Blackpool where he led them into League One. He is highly thought of at Blackpool by the fans during an uneasy time under the Oyston family ownership.
Bowyer has also previously managed Blackburn and Salford. Former St Johnstone boss Callum Davidson would be among the favourites if Bowyer does go.
