Garth Brooks Ireland 2022 news as support act and start time confirmed for Croke Park concerts

The countdown to the Garth Brooks Croke Park concerts is well underway, with the US superstar set to play five nights in the stadium next month.

Initially set as two nights in the Dublin venue on September 9 and 10, huge demand saw a third added for September 11, followed by two more on September 16 and 17.

The sold-out gigs will see more than 400,000 fans descend on Drumcondra to watch the country music superstar perform across five nights.

Croke Park will be the only European venue headlined by the 'Friends in Low Places' singer in 2022.

And with just weeks to go until he first takes to the stage, promoters Aiken have issued important updates for fans.

They have confirmed there will be no support act any of the nights. Gates will open at 5pm and the show is due to start at 7.30pm.

A spokesperson added that Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult to enter Croke Park, and no Under 14s are allowed into the pitch standing area.

Further updates are due to be issued in advance of the gigs.

It comes eight years after ‘Garthgate’, when five planned concerts at GAA HQ were cancelled due to a planning dispute.

The No 1 selling solo artist in US history said the 2014 concert controversy felt like ‘a death in the family’ and admitted he has been too hurt to return to Ireland since.

But that all changed last September when he jetted to Ireland to personally announce the 2022 shows.

The Friends in Low Places hitmaker admitted: “I never dreamed this day would come. I will just be real honest with you, I thought it was long gone.”

Dressed in denim from head-to-toe topped off with his trademark cowboy hat, he gushed about his ‘home’ in Ireland.

He told a press conference: “I played Central Park 1997, we filmed it, but Dublin doesn’t compare. Anybody who gets to play in front of an Irish crowd ..it’s the greatest gift you can get.

“Croke Park is my idea of heaven. I’ve been around the world and there’s no place like this. Ireland, it’s the people who make this country”.

Anyone not planning to attend the gigs may still see the singing sensation out and about.

He said he plans to travel the length and breath of Ireland in a romantic trip with his country music star wife Trisha Yearwood when he returns for the gigs next month.

Limited tickets are available via Ticketmaster priced at €65.56 for standing or €81 for seated, plus a service charge.
