Garth Brooks fans face dismal weather as Met Eireann issue Hurricane Danielle update

Garth Brooks fans may need umbrellas ahead of his highly anticipated run of concerts in Croke Park starting this weekend.

Met Eireann have said that scattered showers will be present across the weekend before stormier weather takes over from Sunday onwards. The dismal forecast could potentially impact the 400,000 people expected to attend Croke Park, where Garth will perform five gigs over ten days.

They said: “Pressure lower than typical for the time of year, with temperatures a little higher than usual. There’s expected to be marginally higher than typical rainfall amounts.”

Hurricane Danielle is currently brewing in the middle of the Atlantic and could potentially move closer to Ireland. Its current path remains unclear, with some maps suggesting it could turn towards Greenland, while others show it could head directly over to Western Europe.

However, people attending Friday and Saturday’s gigs have less to worry about as sunny spells are expected on both days. Met Eireann predicts temperatures around this period will range from 18-21 degrees.

Met Eireann confirms in its forecast: “Friday will be a bright day with sunny spells and some showers, but not as heavy or as frequent as previous days. Highest temperatures will range from 18C to 21C in light northwest breezes.”

“Saturday will be mainly dry with good sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 18C to 21C with light breezes.”

The news of next week’s weather may concern some fans as Croke Park has little shelter to offer in the event of bad weather. The sold-out gigs are expected to have a huge turnout, as many fans have waited for Garth Brooks to return to Irish soil after he cancelled plans to perform in Dublin over eight years ago.
