Garnet Coleman, longtime Democratic Texas House member, dies at 65

Texas Dustin Burrows Texas House Mental Health

Former state Rep. Garnet Coleman, a Houston Democrat who served in the Texas House for more than 30 years, died Wednesday, his family said. He was 65.

Coleman first joined the Texas House in 1991 and represented parts of central and southeast Houston throughout his tenure until 2022.
