Gareth Henderby 'under consideration' for Rangers academy director role

Rangers have been touted to recruit renowned Scottish coach Gareth Henderby as their new academy director.

Henderby has previously worked in the youth set up of Danish club Nordsjaelland and has been technical director at the Right to Dream academy in Ghana.

Scott Burns, journalist at the Daily Record, first reported the link and said: “Gareth Henderby is one of the names under consideration to become the new academy director at Rangers.

"Has had major roles at Nordsjaelland and with the Right to Dream academies.

“He has helped to develop some major talent.”

The Right to Dream academy has provided a plethora of talent with Rangers January signing Mohamed Diomande a graduate before signing for the club.

The Ibrox faithful have expressed their excitement at the potential move after noticing a social media post by Henderby who was in the crowd when Rangers drew 3-3 against Celtic in April.

Henderby posted a photo of the game with the caption “Ready”, and fans have responded urging him to come back to the club and take up the role of academy director.

Zeb Jacobs left his post as academy director to join Feyenoord last month.

A Rangers statement confirmed: "Rangers FC can confirm Academy Director Zeb Jacobs will leave the club at the end of the season for Feyenoord.

"Zeb will leave Rangers with the best wishes of everyone at the club."
