Gareth Edwards on 'The Creator': If you don't make people cry, then you're not abusing the power of cinema

Director Gareth Edwards, known for his groundbreaking work in the science fiction genre, with films like 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' and 'Godzilla', is all set to unveil his latest original venture titled - 'The Creator'. This eagerly awaited sci-fi film that is poised to hit theatres on Friday, September 29, is already raking up rave reviews with many asking for a sequel.

At the recent global press conference attended by ETimes, Edwards was quizzed about his future filmmaking endeavours and whether he had any plans for potential sequels to 'The Creator'. In response, he shared intriguing insights into his creative process and his preference for storytelling with definitive conclusions. Edwards explained his love for stories that come to a powerful and memorable climax and an impactful ending. This approach, he revealed, led him to develop "The Creator" as a self-contained tale with a singular vision. He said, "I'm always working backwards from the end to try and get it to be this climax as much as possible. And everything sort of leads to that moment, so this is self-contained."
