Gareth Bale's Bristol golf bar announces opening date

Gareth Bale's golf bar has announced it will open in Bristol in time for Christmas this year. The Wales captain already has one site of Par59 in Cardiff in partnership between The DEPOT and Elevens Group LTD, a company co-owned by the star footballer.

Bale's company won permission to open an indoor adventure golf centre in Bristol city centre despite more than 100 residents’ objections back in April. Councillors granted a premises licence for Par 59, which will open next to Lane 7 in Harbourside this autumn, after the football superstar’s business venture scaled back the hours following police concerns.

They opened their first Par 59 venue in Cardiff city centre in March of 2021, and have since welcomed more than 60,000 visitors through the doors. This second venue, which will be based on Millennium Promenade, Harbourside, will encompass 15,000 sq ft of bar and restaurant space.

It offers two custom-designed, mini golf courses with nine holes. There will also be a separate darts room with four augmented darts boards, with the entire venue holding a maximum capacity of 500.

Nick Saunders, founder and Managing Director of The DEPOT in Cardiff and co-founder of Par 59 said: “We’ve had a really great response to Par 59 in Cardiff, and hopefully, we can replicate that here in Bristol – we hope that people find it to be the perfect place to socialise, relax, and feed a competitive streak at the same time.”

The Bristol site will host independent Welsh street food traders Dirty Bird. Their ‘Dirty Birdie’ offering includes a custom-designed menu of crispy buttermilk fried chicken burgers and sides, with vegan options also available. The bar will be stocked with craft beers supplied by The Bristol Beer Factory.

Par 59 will open to the public on December 9 in time for the festive season. Keen putters will be able to place their bookings from this Friday (October 28) at 10am.
