Gareth Bale says he's open to accepting Rob McElhenney's invitation for a round of golf to discuss a Wrexham transfer...depending on where the course is.
And it seems it could well be at St Andrew's as the famous golf course told Bale and the Always Sunny in Philadelphia star to "leave it with them." McElhenney alongside his Hollywood pal Ryan Reynolds bought Wrexham in 2021 and after playoff heartbreak last season, they led them to the National League title this term. It means the historic Welsh side will return to the English Football League for the first time in seven years and McElhenney and Reynolds are eyeing up a marquee signing or two.
Former Real Madrid and Tottenham star Bale, now retired, had McElnhenney inviting him for a round of golf to try and talk him out of retirement for one season playing in League Two. And Bale, who congratulated the Wrexham owner on the promotion, has now responded saying: "Depends on what course..."
He tagged the Royal and Ancient golf course in St Andrews in the tweet and they responded: "Leave it with us," in a move that is likely to kick the Wrexham transfer sleuths into overdrive.
