Gareth Bale has offered his congratulations to the Wrexham project in his native Wales - but could he be signing for the Red Dragons?
Phil Parkinson's signed sealed a memorable promotion to the EFL for the first time in 15 years on Saturday after beating Boreham Wood 3-1 to win the National League title. Their story has been fuelled by supporters digging into their pockets to save the club before Hollywood arrived in the form of owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
And it's the latter who is putting out the transfer requests to one of Wales' finest exports, who retired after playing for the country at the World Cup last year. The Always Sunny In Philadelphia star took to Twitter to make the plea, playing on the former Real Madrid man's big love of golf: "Hey Gareth Bale, let’s play golf, where I totally won’t spend 4 hours trying to convince you to un-retire for one last magical season."
Bale was coy with his reply, saying: "Hi Rob. Just want to congratulate you for your promotion and everything you're doing at Wrexham."
