Gareth Ainsworth gives verdict on Bolton Wanderers transfer business & season potential

Gareth Ainsworth believes Bolton Wanderers have recruited well after beating his Wycombe side but believes it is difficult to assess any promotion credentials after two games of the season.

The Whites took the lead in the first half when Kyle Dempsey finished to give the Whites the advantage following good work from Liverpool loanee Conor Bradley. They doubled their lead just before the break when Aaron Morley slotted home from Dapo Afolayan's pass.

Dempsey added his second after the break as Wanderers ran out worthy 3-0 winners. It leaves the Whites third in the League One table after two matches so far.

Wanderers began the season with a point on the road to Ipswich Town before the impressive win over the Chairboys. Wycombe began their campaign with a 3-0 victory over Burton Albion.

The Chairboys were in the play-off final last season and Ainsworth is proud of his side's achievements in the decade he has been in charge. He feels League One is becoming a harder division each season.

The Wycombe boss feels it is difficult to assess if Bolton will be up towards the top of the league after only two games, but feels both results for Ian Evatt's side have been positive. He paid tribute to his opposite number and the acquisitions made in the transfer market.

Ainsworth told the Manchester Evening News : "It's difficult to say after two games but they've had two really good results. They've beat us and drew against Ipswich so you have to say that they've got some evidence to say they're recruited really well.

"Ian's a good guy, a good manager. It's a big club to manage and I think that the expectation here is get back to the Championship and Premier League as soon as they can. It's not that easy, it's a tough, tough league this season, but they were definitely better than us today.

"I think so (League One getting harder). The money coming in is bigger, the teams that are coming down seem to have more money and some teams seem to be able to change owners and then spend fortunes again and it's crazy.

"We're really proud of what we've done over the years and a 3-0 defeat away at Bolton isn't catastrophe for us. We're really pleased."
