When an Australian walks into the Buenos Aires sunglasses shop where Fernanda Sosa works, she asks them an important question.
"Do you know the show Gardening Australia?"
The 38-year-old Argentinian is possibly the world's biggest fan of host Costa Georgiadis.
Ms Sosa takes pride in her rooftop garden, having turned to it for comfort and support during the pandemic.
That was how she discovered Costa.
"In the pandemic, I started watching a lot of gardening shows on YouTube, and one of the best shows YouTube showed me was Gardening Australia," she said.
"I loved the way [Costa] interviews the different people who appear in the show, the way he speaks, he's really calm," she said.
"In the pandemic I suffered a lot of anxiety, and he makes me feel calmer."
Ms Sosa said she had learned a lot from Costa and used that knowledge in her own garden — from water storage and compost to saving thrown-out plants on the streets of her city.
She said she had built a garden out of recycled containers and disposed plant pots, and used WhatsApp groups to chat with other local gardeners.
"Gardening is not only about the plants, it's about sharing," she said.
"And I think [Costa] shows that point of view in all the episodes.
"They are sharing knowledge, a place to be, a place to belong. That's very very important."
Ms Sosa said it would be a dream come true for him to know how much his teaching and presence had meant to her.
"I feel him as a friend, and if he ever visited me, I'm pretty sure we are going to go to all the botanical places here, and have such great adventures together, and learn about mushrooms, and birds — I love him," she said.
"For me it would be very important if he can see my garden, and see [that] he is one of my inspirations to that garden."
Everything Ms Sosa had shared was played in an interview on NSW Regional Drive — where Costa was listening on another line.
He said he was feeling a bit "wobbly" when he was brought in to respond.
"I feel like she just nailed my resume — and maybe even my eulogy," Costa said.
"If I had to write what is it that wakes me up to go and do what we do, she said it — it is about the plants but it's not only about that, [it's] the community, and like she said, the belonging.
"I was wobbling a little bit there to hear her say what the show meant to her during the pandemic, when she was anxious and that she turned to gardening."
Costa was flicking through photos of her garden while he spoke, and said he resonated with her "mish-mash" of re-purposed containers housing myriad plants.
"She's doing all those things that we say to people — this isn't a big money thing, it's not about some extravagant garden where you get people in and buy all this equipment," he said.
"Looking at your garden, it's just the type of garden that I love because it has your signature all over it," he said.
Ms Sosa had been listening live — at a very early hour in Argentina — to everything that played on the radio, and shared her reaction over WhatsApp.
"I can't believe what just happened," she wrote.
"My dream [has] come true."
