Gardai took two cars from the same driver in the space of two days - after they made the exact same mistake.
Officers attached to the Roscommon Roads Policing Unit were on patrol earlier in the week when they spotted a driver acting strangely on the road.
They pulled them over in order to investigate further and were quite surprised by what they discovered.

The driver only held a learner permit, which is fine - except there was no full license holder with them, and they didn't have their L-plates displayed, both of which are required by law.
This meant that they seized the vehicle - and the offence carries an €80 fine and 2 penalty points. If you do not pay the fine and are summoned to court, you could be fined €120 and get 4 penalty points.
Failure to properly display the L or N plate is an offence. You could get 2 penalty points and a fixed charge fine of €60, which increases to 4 penalty points and €90 if you are convicted in court.
It's a hefty penalty - which makes it all the more baffling that on the very next day, while Gardai were on patrol, they spotted another car acting strangely.
Lo and behold, it was the same driver, with a different car - but still without L plates or an accompanied driver!
Once again, Gardai seized the car and presumably another fine is on the way for the learner driver.
