Gardai have seized a firearm and ammunition and arrested two men following a search in Ballyfermot.
Gardai were on patrol on the Kylemore Road in Dublin 10 shortly after 5pm on Tuesday. The men were observed at a distance, before what was believed to be a firearm was produced at the scene.
Additional Garda units were rushed to the area. An Garda Siochana successfully retrieved ammunition and a firearm after conducting a search.

The men, who are both in their thirties, were arrested prior to the search. They are currently detained at Clondalkin Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
The firearm and ammunition will now be sent to the Garda Ballistics Unit for analysis. Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
