Gardai are carrying out searches of bins and outbuildings for a possible murder weapon following the killing of a man at an apartment.
A major probe is underway after Dennis Neary, 52, was beaten to death in Blacklion, Co Cavan before his body was discovered yesterday morning.
The suspect in his 30s, was arrested in Castlerea, Co Roscommon - 80km from the scene.

This morning, investigators are walking through the small border village in a bid to find evidence connected to the killing.
Our pictures show them checking behind beer kegs, in outbuildings and bins beside a nearby property, which the suspect has no connection with but may have disposed of evidence there before fleeing the scene.
The apartment, which is sealed off, is being examined by forensics as a port-mortem is underway of Mr Neary's remains, which will establish his cause of death.
It will also indicate if a weapon was used in the murder.
The victim and the suspect are not originally from the area.
It's understood he became involved in a row with another person in the house and was then attacked at around 9am yesterday.
Fianna Fail councillor John Paul Feeley said the community was shocked.
He added: "It is a sad day for the community that someone has been killed here."
Gardai were last night appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
In a statement last night, a garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating a fatal assault on a man that occurred in County Cavan on the morning of Thursday 9th March 2023.
