Gardai reveal exact locations of all 61 new speed cameras now in operation

Gardai and the Road Safety Authority are cracking down on road safety across Ireland as 61 new speed cameras go live for the first time this morning nationwide.

The cameras are littered right across the country on motorways, regional and national routes in a total of 23 counties.

It comes as Gardaí and the RSA continue to urge drivers to slow down on our roads as the number of deaths reached 94 in July.

Just this weekend past, a total of five people were tragically killed on our roads, as the death toll jumps by 28 compared to the same time last year.

Ireland’s roads now feature a whopping 1,373 speed cameras with drivers being warned to heed the speed limit and arrive safely on their journeys.

The new fleet of monitors includes the latest Average Speed Cameras in operation on the M7 between Nenagh West and Birdhill.

According to statistics from An Garda Siochana, since the introduction of speed cameras to Irish roads back in 2010 they seen more than two million dangerous drivers handed speeding tickets.

The highest number of cameras in one county is Wexford, where eight are now live, while there are seven in Kildare and five in Dublin.
