Gardaí have made an arrest in the early stages of a murder probe after a man was found unresponsive at a house in Cavan this morning.
Gardaí rushed to the scene at 9.15am on Thursday morning at a house in Blacklion, Co Cavan, where they discovered a male with serious injuries. He was unresponsive.
Gardai have confirmed that despite medical intervention by gardaí, the man, aged in his 50s, was later pronounced dead by paramedics.

His body remains at the scene this evening and the scene is currently preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
The office of the State Pathologist has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.
Gardaí quickly made enquires and in follow-up investigations quickly made an arrest. A man in his 30s was apprehended and is being held on suspicion of murder, gardaí have said.
"He is currently being detained at Castlerea Garda Station in Roscommon under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984," they added.
