Gardaí have launched an investigation following the discovery of a body of a man "in unexplained circumstances" in Westmeath today.
The man's body, aged in his 60s, was discovered by Gardai in a house at Rattin near Milltownpass. He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
The Office of the State Pathologist and Garda Technical Bureau have been requested to assist in the investigation. The local Coroner has also been notified.

A garda spokesman said: "The outcome of a post-mortem examination will in determine the course of the investigation. The body was found shortly after 6pm.
"Further information is to follow."
