Gardai are investigating the attempted theft of Altior's half-sister and her foal from a rural farm on the Laois/Kildare border.
The incident happened near Monasterevin when an unfamiliar blue van and trailer were spotted at the entrance to a field where Princess Leya was in isolation with her colt foal by Free Eagle.
Altior's half-sister was unharmed in the incident, which happened on August 3, but the foal hurt his leg and had to get stitches.
