A young man has died after a horror single-vehicle crash in Co Meath.
The incident happened on the L5068 at Knockcommon, Slane, at around 10.30pm on Tuesday.
The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 20s, was treated by emergency services at the scene but later died.
His body was brought to Navan Hospital where a post mortem is set to take place in the coming days.
There was nobody else in the vehicle and no other injuries have been reported.
The L5068, which is just off the N2, remained closed on Wednesday morning to allow for an examination of the scene by Forensic Collision Investigators.
Local diversions were in place.
And officers are appealing for anyone with information about the incident, or who was in the area at the time of the crash, to come forward.
A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision on the L5068 at Knockcommon, Slane, Co Meath yesterday, Tuesday, 25th January 2022.
"The single-vehicle collision occurred after 10.30pm. The driver of the vehicle, a man aged in his 20s, received treatment at the scene from paramedics but was later pronounced deceased.
"Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to them.
