Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault on a male student at a secondary school in Waterford city.
The alleged attack by one male student against another occurred shortly before 11am on May 5 during school hours.
It is understood that an object was used to injure the student who suffered a head injury while on school property.

A second male student was arrested by gardai shortly after the alleged assault.
In a statement Gardai said: “Gardai are investigating an alleged assault that occurred on the 5thMay 2023 shortly before 11am at a premises in Waterford Town.
“A male youth was taken to Waterford University Hospital for treatment to a serious injury.
“A second male youth has since been arrested and detained in a Garda Station in the South-East under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, before being released without charge for a file to the Juvenile Liaison Officer (JLO).
“As the incident involves young persons, no further details are available.
Investigations are ongoing.”
School management would not comment on the incident.
