Gardai have arrested and charged 27 people after a major clampdown on crime against retailers and businesses in north Dublin.
Officers from the J District (Raheny, Clontarf and Howth) have been working on an ongoing initiative which placed increased emphasis on business and retail outlets who were the victims of crime. The operation identified people who allegedly committed crime in those areas and gardai reassessed historical reports of crimes to identify suspects in retail settings.
As a result, 22 men and five women were charged and have appeared before the District Court with 37 alleged offences arising from 29 incidents of theft, criminal damage and burglary affecting the business sector across Raheny, Howth, and Clontarf. They are due before the Criminal Courts of Justice today, Thursday September 15.
