As thousands of children make a return to the classroom this week, gardai are warning parents to be careful if they are sharing back to school photos on social media.
The Garda Cyber Crime Bureau is warning people to make sure there is no personal information in the photo, with parents advised to make sure the photos don't include their home door numbers and to turn off location data on their phones before taking the picture.
They are also encouraging parents to blur out all other identifiable information, including copy books and school bags that may have the children's name or personal details. Blurring out the school logo on the child's uniform is also advised to prevent the school from being identified.
