Gardai discovered a motorist in breach of several road safety rules when on patrol on a busy motorway on Friday.
Members of the force from the Laois division stopped an Audi car travelling on the M7 after it was spotted driving dangerously.
When gardai stopped the driver, they discovered the person behind the wheel was breaking numerous laws.
It emerged the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier.
Additionally, the driver was intoxicated and gave false information to gardai, with the force subsequently discovering that they had already been disqualified.
Gardai also recovered several stolen items from the car.
They then arrested the driver and seized the vehicle.
Gardai for the Laois/Offaly division said on Friday: "Laois Roads Policing Unit on patrol earlier today stopped this vehicle on the M7 after it was observed driving dangerously.
"The vehicle had earlier been reported stolen and the driver who was intoxicated, gave false details to Gardaí when stopped and was subsequently discovered to be disqualified from driving.
"A quantity of stolen goods was also recovered from the vehicle. Driver arrested and vehicle seized."
