A driver has been arrested for a ‘dangerous’ rule break in pouring rain over the weekend.
The Naas Roads Policing Unit was carrying out speed checks on the M7 when they detected a car travelling 60km/h over the speed limit.
They were driving on a road where the limit was 120km/h and they were driving at 180km/h.

To make matters worse, there was heavy rainfall meaning other drivers would have been put at risk if they had caused an accident.
Gardai stopped the driver and arrested them for dangerous driving will a court date pending.
A garda spokesperson said: “Naas RPU conducted speed checks on the M7 when they detected this car travelling at speed of 180kph during heavy rainfall.
“They were stopped and the driver was arrested for Dangerous Driving and they will appear in Court.”
In Ireland, if you are convicted of dangerous driving, you could be fined up to €5000, or be sent to prison for up to 6 months, or both.
If you are convicted of dangerous driving causing death or serious bodily harm, you could be fined up to €20,000 and imprisoned for up to 10 years, or both.
