A man was arrested following a public order incident in Co Kildare last night that resulted in a dramatic assault of a garda.
The incident happened near the Ballymore Eustace Road roundabout in Naas just before 9pm on Sunday.
While the man, aged in his 30s, was being arrested, a member of the garda was assaulted and a patrol car was seriously damaged.
Numerous uniformed and plain clothes gardai attended the scene.

The member of the force who was assaulted was taken to Naas General Hospital but their injuries are not considered to be serious.
A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí attended a public order incident on Ballymore Eustace Road, Co. Kildare at approximately 8:50pm on Sunday 14th August 2022.
"A male, 30s, was arrested under the Public Order Act 1994, and conveyed to Naas Garda Station. During the course of the arrest, criminal damage was committed to a patrol car and the arrested male assaulted a member of An Garda Síochána.
"The Garda member was brought to Naas General Hospital for treatment of non-serious injuries.
"Investigations are ongoing."
