GAME REVIEW: We get revved up to grab the wheel and test out 'F1 23'

The buzz of a British Grand Prix at Silverstone last weekend helped create the perfect background as I grabbed the wheel (PS5 controller, if truth be told) of a Formula One car for the latest instalment of the F1 series.

Although not a hardcore fan of F1, I know enough to get me by, but EA Sports and Codemasters have made F1 23 totally accessible for veterans and newbies.

First off the bat, the graphics are stunningly realistic and gameplay offers a new handling and physics system that means you can jump straight into the action.

The changes feel totally different to predecessor F1 22 - the F1 machines seem much easier to drive - especially when it comes to traction and taking corners at high speeds, making it a much more realistic and enjoyable experience.

New features this year include the F1 World Hub menu option, which offers the traditional time trial and multi-player modes as well as regular challenges which players can join in using their own custom F1 cars.

The Braking Point storyline returns too and this single-player story mode is more thrilling and engaging than ever, with you not only getting the chance to play as main protagonist Aiden Jackson , but also bad guy Devon Butler .

Everything has been packed into this game; even the Las Vegas Street circuit is featured and it’s not been completed in real-life yet!

F1 23 is the best version yet and is great fun for both novice and expert racers. It’s a thrill ride.
