British actress Emilia Clarke is a Hollywood star and has been a firm favourite among us Brits since she catapulted to international stardom after playing beloved character Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO television series Game of Thrones in 2011.
With its fantasy story lines filled with mystical beings, violence and romance (which included some pretty graphic intimate scenes), it wasn't just Emilia's acting talent and strength viewers were wowed by - they were wondering how she maintained her healthy figure too.
So much so, that when the CEO of an Australian TV company executive dubbed the star as "short" and "dumpy" at the premiere of the prequel to the popular HBO series, House of Dragons - a description so contrasting to reality - the world erupted.

But how does the 'mother of dragons' maintain her fitness and how can we follow suit?
While there are a plethora of diet trends on the radars of Hollywood starlets far and wide - the 5:2, the Atkins Diet, the Sirtfood Diet, to name a few - it seems Emilia likes to keep it plain and simple, relying on one which has withstood the test of time.
Keeping her food "clean and lean", the 35-year-old from Oxford, as reported by The Express, follows a diet and cookbook of that exact name, Clean and Lean - and puts her "happy kitchen" down to it. Created by Bodyism founder and Emilia's personal trainer, James Duigan, the plan - which adopts a holistic approach and is followed by fellow stars Elle Macpherson and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley - encourages people to be kind to their bodies, feeding themselves simple natural foods - aka, no toxins or processed foods and drinks.
This means a menu of plenty of vegetables, fish and lots of protein is on the cards. Divided into two sections, the book first delves into how to get "clean" through detoxing. It then explores how to - you guessed it - get "lean" via methods of combining certain exercises, complete with step-by-step photographed demonstrations, in conjunction with a healthy and balanced diet.
The plan advises against foods that encourage weight gain, for example refined sugar, refined white flour and processed foods, those which lack important nutrients such as fibre, vitamins and minerals, and added sugars.
As for exercise, Emilia - who has been open about her health after suffering two aneurysms early on in her career - reportedly opts for bodyweight training with a high number of reps and not too much heavy lifting.
The use of bodyweight only exercises means she can fit in her workout whereever she is and doesn't need the use of a gym or equipment. Her PT James has been an avid supporter of bodyweight exercises being used to tone and build strength but also recommends switching up activities.
Alongside this method of keeping lean, Emilia allegedly dabbles in yoga, pilates and HIIT workouts.
House of the Dragon hit televisions across the world on Monday, August 22 on Sky Atlantic and NOW, and follows the story of Emilia's character, Daenerys', family - the Targaryens - long before (172 years to be exact) before her time.
