Galway defender Kieran Molloy is believed to have sustained a cruciate knee ligament injury.
The Corofin man was in action for is club at the weekend when the injury occurred.
Molloy would be a major loss after starring in Galway's run to this year's All-Ireland final.
Inter-county sides are allowed to resume collective training on November 24.
