Gail Porter says nothing can break her as she suffers another alopecia flare up.
The 50-year-old, who was first diagnosed with the condition in 2005, took to Instagram to poke fun at her health woes, as she said she looked like the moon after losing her eyelashes and eyebrows.
Sharing a picture of Noel Fielding’s Moon character from The Mighty Boosh, Gail wrote: “Well… alopecia had a good old go at me again. Eyebrows and eyelashes gone again… but, absolutely nothing can break me and I know I’m a very lucky human.
“More than a million more important things in this world, but anyone that does get scared about losing your hair… you’ve got this. Believe me,” she mused.
Friends and followers of the TV presenter were quick to shower the star with supportive comments, as one wrote: “I have much respect for you and your positivity - something I can see you have earned for yourself by working hard. Well done you beautiful human being.”
“Bless you Gail, so sorry to read this…It’s such a difficult condition to live with, we are constantly reminded of it…you are amazing and thank you for your posts they help me and others know we’re not alone,” another added.
“Sending you loads of love Gail. You are a beautiful woman both inside and out. You have also got this. Believe me,” a follower commented.
Gail then took to Twitter to share more funny memes and GIFs about her alopecia flare up, and posted another image of The Mighty Boosh’s Moon.
“Damn. Eyelashes and eyebrows have all decided to leave me. Hey ho,” she tweeted.
The mum-of-one said it’s “happened before”, and was determined to remain optimistic.
“So positive thinking and a lot of trips to @MACcosmetics for lashes!” she added.
Gail also hinted at further health struggles, as she told her followers on Twitter that she’d been suffering from insomnia.
“And … awake! I’m thinking, maybe in a positive way, that my insane sleep patterns, my eyelashes and eyebrows leaving me and having no taste or smell… could be leading to better things????” she quipped.
The star, who shot to fame in the late 1990s with presenting gigs on The Big Breakfast and Top Of The Pops, recently revealed she saw her work dry up when she was diagnosed with the hair loss condition, as she refused to wear wigs.
“My personality took a bit of a knock. Jobs just stopped, because you don't look the same. ‘Would you wear a wig, would you mind wearing a wig?’ No I don't want to wear a wig. This is how it is,” she told the Sacrifice and Success podcast.
