Friends, fans, followers and well wishers of balladeer Gaddar are meeting on Wednesday at Prasad’s Labs in Banjara Hills here celebrating his grand journey as revolutionary activist and man of masses.
Exactly the same day 25 years ago, unidentified persons tried to eliminate him by firing at him at his house in Venkatapuram of Alwal at close range. Despite bullets hitting him, the balladeer survived the attempt on his life and continued to walk on the path of revolutionary ideology of fighting for the oppressed and suppressed.
“Brother Gaddar recovered despite sustaining bleeding injuries in the gun attack. But the wound had not healed even after 25 years as the police failed to nab the culprits,” said Anthadupula Nagaraju, Telangana Dhoom Dhaam founding secretary, who is convening the event christened ‘Day of Gaddar Rebirth’.
Known for his attracting attention of people with pulsating beats of songs on different themes, Gaddar had been fighting for the causes of masses for past five decades, he said. The meeting would recall contribution of the balladeer in different fields including pro-Telangana agitation and revolutionary movement.
