Gabriel Jesus shares promising injury update as Arsenal star takes big step in recovery from surgery

Gabriel Jesus has shared a key moment in his comeback from injury with Arsenal fans.

Less than two months after undergoing an operation on a knee injury picked up at the World Cup, the Brazilian pulled his boots on for a trip back out on the pitch.

Jesus captioned the Instagram post “after eight weeks” with a praying-hands emoji as he continues to target a return to aid Arsenal’s Premier League titl bid.

An initial timeframe of around three months was put on his recovery although the Gunners have been keen not to put a public date on his return.

Towards the end of last month, Jesus was spotted appearing to reference his injury in a conversation with Khabib Nurmagomdeov, in which he told the MMA legend that he will be back in around “four to five weeks”.

Mikel Arteta had earlier suggested that his player will be out “longer than expected” and said last week that Jesus was pushing hard to be fit as soon as possible.

“With him, I don’t know, he wants to be in next week!” he said.

“That’s obviously totally unrealistic but he’s pushing and driving everybody [in the medical team] to the limit. I cannot give you an answer; hopefully, it’ll be weeks and not months but it was a serious injury and we need to respect that process as well.”
