A €800 million facelift of the Montparnasse Tower has been shelved, reviving a decades-old debate over the future of one of Paris’s most divisive landmarks.

The plan to transform the 1970s tower into a lighter, greener skyscraper has collapsed after its co-owners overwhelmingly rejected the first stage of the renovation.
