Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service have hit out at vandals who 'put people's lives at risk' during a major incident in the city.
Up to 12 fire engines were called to a fire at Nottingham Recycling in Abbeyfield Road, at the Lenton Lane industrial estate, at around 2pm on Monday, January 31.
The A52 was closed in both directions while crews worked tirelessly into the night to try and bring the fire under control.
Meanwhile, firefighters said someone "maliciously" broke a fire call point - something which they said put lives at risk.
Nottinghamshire Rescue said in a statement: "While we were dealing with a major incident last night someone again maliciously called us out by breaking a fire call point. These 'games' put lives risk.
"Please contact Nottinghamshire Police or Crimestoppers if you have information."
This is not the first time this has happened, either, with recent a spate of false alarms in city centre residential blocks during the night and early hours.
Fire crews were previously called out eight times within a short period to false alarms where a fire call point had been maliciously damaged.
On one of these occasions firefighters had liquid thrown at their fire engine when they were on scene. In another, firefighting equipment within the building had been damaged.
