Everyone gets a bit of a thrill when they finally get that summer holiday booked, especially if they make a saving. Some parents even try to save a bit of money by booking to depart on the last few days of school, when teaching is winding down.
For the most part a day or two won't do much harm, and schools may even turn a blind eye if they find out since they'd only be watching films or cleaning classrooms. Some however take a bit more of a risk, pulling their kids from education for quite a few days, or even weeks.
One mum took her child out for eight days, adding that it was the first time that she did it. It ended up with her getting slapped with a penalty notice as the school found out and told authorities, the Mirror reports.
