Kim Woodburn has furiously called for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield to be sacked from This Morning following false claims the presenting duo skipped the 14-hour-long queues to see the Queen lying-in-state last week.
TV personality Kim, 80, insisted that when she appeared on the ITV morning show after being evicted from the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2017, Holly and Phil made her feel 'so unwelcome' and 'humiliated' after her dramatic time in the Big Brother house.
The How Clean Is Your House star didn’t hold back on her view that the Holly and Phil have lost the nation’s trust, after a recent petition to have them sacked from This Morning doubled to reach 50,000 signatures.
While both Holly and Phillip have denied skipping the queues to see the Queen lying-in-state to film a segment on Her Majesty's funeral for This Morning, many stars have continued to take savage swipes at the pair, including their former co-star, Eamonn Holmes.
Given that other celebrities including Susanna Reid and David Beckham waited more than 13-hours with mourners to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth at Westminster Hall, Kim now thinks that Holly and Phil's time in the spotlight should come to an end.
Appearing on GB News panel with broadcaster Jeni Barnett, and BGT finalist, Francine Lewis, the furious star said: "Their self-serving publicity stunt came back to bite them on the bum, didn’t it? I’m appalled by them.
"There were many people in that queue, people with wheelchairs and walking sticks. And Holly and Phillip think because they are on TV they can flout the rules.
"They’re telling lies and they’ve been caught. They’re cocky, they’re self-assured and they are disliked intensely.
"They should be fired and the crew would say, “Yippee.” We’ve had enough of these two idiots. They won’t be missed," Kim fumed.
Impressionist, Francine Lewis, agreed with Kim, admitting that she’s never felt so unwelcome as she did on the This Morning sofa.
"It’s very typical of Holly and Phillip to think they have a VIP status," she said. ‘They think they’re TV royalty and a cut above the rest.
"I have experience being on the show with them and in all the years of being on TV and a guest on shows, I’ve never felt so unwelcome as I did on their sofa.
"And everybody thinks they are TV darlings, and that Holly is so lovely. But they didn’t greet me, they didn’t say “hello” when I got there. And they didn’t say goodbye after the show. As soon as the interview was done they moved on."
However, Jeni Barnett vehemently defended the couple: "This is character assassination. I’ve known Phil forever. I was never treated badly.
"How do you know they did what you’re saying they did? In front of four billion people they’re going to jump the queue? Why would they do that? They work within the lines of respectability. They are respectable."
Holly and Phillip released a pre-recorded statement on This Morning on Tuesday insisting they would 'never jump a queue' and explained they had media accreditation.
And even with a petition that called for the duo to be axed from television reaching 50,000 signatures, it was reported that Holly and Phil won't be quitting their job.
Because of the intense backlash, there have been worries about the presenters' well-being.
"There are huge, real and serious concerns over their wellbeing and ITV is fully supporting them behind the scenes in the face of such relentless trolling," a source told The Mirror.
"The channel backs them 110 per cent."
They even said that Holly and Phil have felt reassured by ITV's stance, and dismissed rumours that Holly could even quit the show, or that her job was in peril.
"She adores her job and would never quit. The whole experience has been totally brutal but one thing has remained constant, and that’s been ITV’s unwavering support," the source added.
