A furious dad has blasted his son's school after it confiscated the 12-year-old's coat in a row over uniform policy. Aaron Bayley accused Jesmond Park Academy of having a "Dickensian attitude" towards its pupils after son, Levon, was made to hand over his The North Face coat.
He said the move came after the jacket fell foul of the academy's school uniform policy which states pupils must wear a black Canterbury-branded jacket complete with school logo. But he insists the official outer wear is too thin for the cold weather - and says he has backing of health professionals.
Mr Bayley told how he took action after Levon was admitted to hospital with suspected Strep A last November. He says those treating the youngster said that the school coat he was wearing was unsuitable, Chronicle Live reports.
